Help! I road tripped and I can't get up!

Allison: I moved to Austin, Texas in July 2011, after a dark winter of the soul spent in Boise, Idaho, where I relocated from California’s Bay Area (with a four-month stopover in Utrecht, the Netherlands). Prior to this, I was quite sedentary. Clearly, I am searching for something. I don’t know what it is, but I’ll know it when I find it (I hope). So, why Texas? It called to me. I visited Austin in the spring of 2011 and loved it, even though it was 94 degrees on April 1. And now here I am: a lone star in the Lone Star State, trying to configure some sort of hardscrabble, self-made constellation to illuminate the darkness of these wide open skies. I don’t know if I will be successful, or what will happen next. What I do know is that hyper-documenting the process and spewing it into the World Wide Web (in the hopes that this will feel a little less like writing in a vacuum—the purpose of writing is, after all, to communicate—and that my misadventures might mildly amuse or comfort others engaged in a similar quest) helps me to sort through all of this. This is also a platform to share the cool things I discover here.
